Trust the Timing of Your Life: Let Go, Surrender, and Receive What’s Meant for You

This week has been a whirlwind. There always seems to be something in the air, right? Whether it’s Mercury Retrograde, a full moon, new moon, eclipse, or some random cosmic shift. Everyone I’ve talked to has been feeling a lot of big energy, like major life changes, shifts, and things falling apart in order to come together.

I’m going to be real with you. I almost didn’t record this episode. I was planning to record it a couple of days ago. I had the title, the notes, everything ready to go. I was in this big flow of inspiration and started typing everything out. Then the next day, I felt like I hit a wall — mentally, emotionally, physically. I felt confusion and exhaustion, and I didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

What’s funny is that’s exactly what this episode is about: trusting the process and trusting the timing of your life. It’s ironic how we often resist recording or sharing something until it hits us that it’s exactly what we’re supposed to be talking about. So, if you’ve had a week like that — where things felt off or uncertain — you’re not alone.

Let’s talk about what it really means to trust the timing of your life. Sometimes the hardest part of personal growth or healing is letting go of how we thought things would happen. We’re so attached to our own timing and plans that when things don’t happen on our schedule, we panic or resist.

But the truth is, we’re not in control of the timeline. Life is always working in our favor — just not always in the way we want. We’re always being given what we need, not necessarily what we want. And that distinction is really important. When we pray or meditate or ask for things — whether that’s clarity, a relationship, a job, or healing — the universe doesn’t just hand it to us. It gives us opportunities to become the kind of person who can hold that thing. And that process doesn’t always feel good.

For example, I recently found myself obsessively checking emails, searching for answers, seeking clarity. I realized I wasn’t getting what I wanted because I was resisting what I needed — which was stillness, presence, and surrender. I was trying to escape the discomfort instead of sitting with it.

This is a pattern a lot of us fall into. We want to rush through the waiting, push past the pain, skip over the lessons. But you can’t skip the process. If you do, you miss the transformation.

Here’s a practical example. I was talking to a friend about her frustration with dating. She’s doing all the “right” things — putting herself out there, working on her self-worth, staying open — and still, nothing’s happening. She started to doubt herself, thinking maybe something was wrong with her. I told her: What if nothing is wrong? What if the relationship you’re looking for is already aligned and set in motion, but it’s just not time yet?

If you knew with absolute certainty that the thing you want was going to happen — the partner, the job, the breakthrough — but just not yet, wouldn’t that change how you felt right now? Wouldn’t it allow you to relax and enjoy this season of preparation?

We don’t struggle because we don’t have what we want. We struggle because we think we should already have it. We resist what is, instead of accepting it. But when we surrender to the present moment, we receive the peace we’ve been searching for.

I want to share a personal story. I used to date emotionally unavailable or abusive men. For years, I attracted the same type of relationship over and over. It wasn’t until I had a massive wake-up call during a fight with one of these men that I realized — I wasn’t actually mad at him. I was reliving unhealed wounds from childhood, replaying the same pattern, hoping for a different outcome.

That moment cracked me open. I stopped blaming others and started looking at what was inside me that needed healing. I did the hard work — therapy, inner child healing, self-worth rebuilding — and everything changed. I stopped attracting those relationships. I stopped settling. I started choosing differently because I became different.

This is how life works. We are presented with the same lessons until we learn them. The pain doesn’t leave until it has taught us what we need to know.

So if you’re in a season of waiting, confusion, or struggle, ask yourself:

  • What am I resisting?

  • What is this moment trying to teach me?

  • What do I need to let go of in order to grow?

Sometimes the universe blocks something not because you’re not worthy, but because you’re not ready. And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re being invited to grow into alignment with the thing you’re asking for.

It’s like planting a seed. You don’t dig it up every day to check if it’s growing. You trust the process. You water it, give it sunlight, and let it take root. You don’t demand it bloom overnight. You know nature doesn’t work that way. And neither do we.

So, trust the timing of your life. Let go of the need to control every outcome. Stop resisting where you are. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be, becoming exactly who you’re meant to become. What’s meant for you will never miss you. And when it’s time, it will arrive — not a moment too soon or too late.
