Let’s Talk About Burnout
Today’s episode is all about what to do when you're tired of trying, feeling completely burned out, and you're still not seeing results. This topic came to me because, truthfully, I didn’t sleep well last night and woke up feeling drained, unmotivated, and totally exhausted. It felt like I hit a wall—emotionally and physically. And if you’ve ever been in the middle of a grind—whether in your health, career, relationships, or business—you know the feeling.
The Truth About “Loving the Process”
Clients often assume I “love” doing all the things—working out, meditating, staying on track with my nutrition—so it’s easy for me. But the truth is, I don’t wake up every day feeling motivated.
And what most people don’t see on social media is the behind-the-scenes struggle, the messy in-between, and the mental energy it takes to stay committed when you’re just not feeling it.
Step 1: Acknowledge Without Judging
On days like this, I start by letting myself feel the exhaustion—without judgment. This isn’t about indulging in self-pity but allowing yourself to sit with what you’re feeling instead of forcing toxic positivity.
I had my coffee and breakfast in silence and just let myself be tired. I didn’t pretend everything was fine. I didn’t try to override how I felt. I simply allowed it.
Step 2: Become the Observer, Not the Reactor
The power comes when you observe your thoughts and emotions without being consumed by them. You can acknowledge:
“I don’t feel like doing anything today.”
But instead of reacting, you can choose how to respond from a grounded place.
Step 3: Make a Small Empowered Choice
From that awareness, ask yourself:
What does my body need today?
What does my mind need?
What does my soul need?
For me, the answer was: my soul needed a break. But since I couldn’t take a total break, I asked, “What can I do today to move toward how I want to feel?”
So I went to the gym, without pressure. If I still didn’t feel like doing anything after warming up, I told myself I’d just walk and stretch. But once I started moving, my energy shifted. Not completely—but enough.
Your Workout Should Match Your Emotional State
Some days, workouts are about intensity.
Other days, they’re about release.
When I’m emotionally heavy, I gravitate toward slow, restorative lifting with long rest periods. It helps me process mentally and physically—without forcing it.
You Don’t Have to Be Perfect—Just Present
Many of my clients beat themselves up for needing a slower day. They panic, thinking they’ll lose all their progress. But here's the truth:
“Don’t focus on what you can’t do today. Focus on what you can do.”
Sometimes that’s walking in nature. Sometimes it’s stretching, meditating, or journaling. Give yourself credit for showing up.
Honor the Season You’re In
There are seasons of:
Physical growth (crushing workouts and nutrition)
Emotional growth (therapy, healing, meditation)
External growth (career, relationships, finances)
And then there are seasons of stillness and burnout. These are not signs of failure—they're a call to realign.
Sometimes It’s Not You—It’s the Approach
If you're doing "everything right" and still not seeing progress, it might be time to change the approach, not give up.
Example:
I had a client doing intense cardio-based classes trying to build muscle. His output was too high for his goals and he wasn’t eating enough. Once we tailored his training to focus on low-rep, high-weight lifting and adjusted his macros—he finally started to see gains.
It’s Not Always a Motivation Problem
Often, people are:
Eating clean
Working out
Taking supplements
Still not seeing changes
That’s when I check labs, hormones, insulin, nutrient deficiencies, and individualized protocols—because generic plans don’t work for everyone.
You Already Know What You Need
Deep down, most people know what they need. Whether it’s:
More sleep
A job change
A different workout
Leaving a toxic relationship
We just have to be willing to do it.
Key Takeaways
Sit with how you feel without reacting.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t.
Honor your current season—whether it’s growth, rest, or realignment.
Shift your approach if you’re not seeing results.
Let go of timelines and outcomes. Trust the process.
One Final Tip: Move Your Body
Even if it’s just 20–30 minutes of walking, movement shifts energy. It might not solve everything, but it will help you feel at least 10% better. And that’s enough to create momentum.
